Catarina Gonçalves did her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering at IST, followed by a master’s degree in chemistry (2013-2019). In the last year of her master’s degree, Catarina became more interested in biomedical sciences – the challenge of drugs’ interaction with therapeutic targets. Taking advantage of her chemistry knowledge, she started a PhD in Biomedical Sciences at Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine (GIMM), testing a new antibody-drug conjugate for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. During these years, Catarina took part in Science Communication and Outreach activities, an area she feels passionate about and is excited to explore in CERENA.
