Lisbon Academy of Sciences Publishes New Book on Energy: Medium and Long-Term Perspectives

The Lisbon Academy of Sciences, one of the oldest continuously operating scientific institutions in the country, has just published a collection of articles and texts by various authors, including our member Amílcar Soares. The book is titled "Energia: Perspectivas a médio e longo prazo" ("Energy: Medium and Long-Term Perspectives"), and is freely available (in Portuguese) on their website.

Amongs the topics addressed in the book are geothermal energy, green hydrogen, the role of extractive industries in the energy transition and the challenges decarbonizing the Portuguese economy.

"Science can and should contribute to the definition of public policies that contribute to human happiness on a planet that urgently needs care." states José Luís Cardoso, President of the Academy, in the preface of the book.
