Lecture – Organic Petrography and Palynofacies in the Study of Hydrocarbon Source Rocks

IST Alameda – Mining Building, Room 3.23 | |

The DER Department at IST is going to host the following lecture:

“Organic Petrography and Palynofacies in the Study of Potential Hydrocarbon Source Rocks”, presented by Dr. Consuelo Navarro, Associate Professor at the State University of Feira de Santana (UEFS), Bahia, Brazil.

📅 Date: July 14, 2025
🕒 Time: 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM
📍 Location: IST – Mining Pavilion, Room 3.23

Dr. Consuelo Navarro is a biologist with a PhD in Geology from the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), specializing in Organic Petrography and Palynology. Her research focuses particularly on paleoenvironmental interpretations through the study of palynomorphs and Paleozoic biostratigraphy. She is part of the graduate programs in Environmental Science Education (PROFCIAMB/UEFS) and Geochemistry: Petroleum and Environment (UFBA), and coordinates the scientific outreach project Popularization of Geosciences (POPGEO/UEFS).

This lecture offers a unique opportunity for technical and scientific enrichment in the geosciences, with special relevance to hydrocarbon exploration and paleoenvironmental analysis.

Free admission. All interested parties are welcome.
