Olga Ferreira is a Chemical Engineer graduated by Instituto Superior de Engenharia de Lisboa in 2011. Her MSc Thesis entitled as Desenvolvimento de materiais poliméricos com vista à sua incorporação em membranas betuminosas, involved the development of reactive polymers to be incorporated in bitumen, aiming to overcome the existent difficulties imposed by man and/or erosion elements in buildings, such as water infiltration's. After her MSc, she worked in challenging national and international projects such as (FOUL-X-SPEL Grant Agreement nº 285552, ECOFOULESS- PROMAR-OF/6923/2014/DPA/DRAPALG) acquiring expertise in the R&D activities on the development of new environmentally friendly antifouling polymeric materials for biofouling prevention on marine surfaces. Recently she finished her Ph.D. in Chemistry (FCUL, 2022) under the doctoral program CATSUS (Catalysis and Sustainability), under the supervision of Dr. Elisabete Ribeiro Silva and co-supervision of Prof. João Gomes, with is thesis entitled "Biocidal and photocatalytic foam filters for the removal of pollutants in fluids". Her main research interests lie in the field of new environmentally friendly antifouling coating formulations development and on fluids pollutants remediation technologies. She has 12 publications in peer-reviewed journals and 4 patents.
