PhD in Mining Engineering in IST-Technical University of Lisbon (2005), Master in geochemistry in Aveiro University (1995), Graduation in Mining Engineering in IST (1990). 1990-at Present- Professor at IST, University of Lisbon. Graduation, Master and PhD lectures in Mineralogy and Geology, Applied Geology, Ore Deposits, Petroleum Systems, Instrumental Analytical Techniques. Fundec course in Marine Armourstones. Investigator in CERENA/CEPGIST - IST – University of Lisbon. Author and co-author of several scientific publications in national and international journals. Basic and applied research in earth, health, energy and material sciences. Expertise includes microscopy, XRD, XRF, XR micro-CT, FTIR and other analytical techniques. Recent studies: cultural heritage, bone and mouth calculus. Other research and outreach activities: Mineralogy and Petrology Laboratory co-responsible. Director of Geosciences Museums of IST ( Bensaúde and Décio Thadeu Museums) . Adviser and collaborator of the LAIST (IST Laboratory of Analyses). Participation in several projects in natural risks and raw materials valorization.
