In November 30, 2018 CERENA/Instituto Superior Técnico hosted the EAGE's European Educational Tour (EET) 12 on "Challenges and solutions in stochastic reservoir modelling – geostatistics, machine learning and uncertainty prediction" by Prof. Vasily Demyanov (Heriot-Watt University, UK). The event was attended by a total of 18 persons including students at MSc and PhD levels and professionals from the industry from different EU countries.
In this course, Prof. Demyanov reviewed the main geostatistical and machine learning tools for subsurface characterization and its ability for uncertainty quantification using examples from real case application. The course follows the contents of EAGE's e-book "Challenges and solutions in stochastic reservoir modelling – geostatistics, machine learning and uncertainty prediction".
