Live at 16h30- Do you know how pollutants run underneath our feet? By Maria Cristina Vila and Maria de Lurdes Dinis
Come and be the referee of this race of contaminants through the soil to reach the goal
The soil is the support of life on earth and the connection with the main source of drinking water to populations - groundwater. Soil and groundwater pollution is an environmental problem with harmful effects on human health and ecosystems. In this activity we will show how the dispersion and transport of contaminants in the soil occur. You will be the referee of this race of contaminants through the soil until they reach the finishing line - the groundwater.
Pre-recorded Online Activity (all day) - The mining engineering cycle - from rocks to smartphone By Rui Jorge Coelho de Sousa and Mining Engineering @FEUP students
Short videos presenting the equipment used in research in the various fields of Mining Engineering
The theme of the 2020 Edition of NEI is ‘Science and Nature’ and the sub-theme ‘Preservation of Cultural and Natural Heritage’ and will count on the collaboration of researchers from various disciplinary fields, from the arts to the humanities and Sciences. This year, due to COVID 19 pandemic NEI will be a little different. The NEI will be mostly online, with the participation of the entire scientific community, and it is expected to be creative and more innovative.
