This year is CERENA’s 10th Anniversary. To commemorate so fruitful journey, CERENA will promote, on November 30th, 2016, a set of workshops and discussions related with some of the main topics of its R&D core: the future of the School-Industry relationship, new technological developments in exploration of Oil and Gas, Environment and Climate and new challenges of the mining industry.

The future of the school-industry relationship.

The important role of the relationship between academia and industry in the future R&D of IST and in particular of CERENA. This will be the aim of special invited talks by: President of IST, Minister of Science and Technology, the Presidents of Bencip-Franlab (to be confirmed), Partex Oil and Gas and GALP Energia.
A brief ceremony to sign cooperation protocols and contracts between school and industry, will end this workshop:
• Contract with Beicip-Franlab (BF) for the development and commercialization of CERENA’s algorithms for seismic reservoir characterization within Interwell (BF) platform and for partnership in R&D projects and services for the oil and gas international market.
• Contract with Partex Oil and Gas of a new 2 years Joint Industrial Program, for the developments of new E&P products.
• Protocol and contract with GALP for the implementation of a new unit of core flooding in the IST’s GEOLAB.
New technological developments in the exploration of oil and gas.
Invited speaker Gael Lecante (Bencip-Franlab). Workshop on reservoir characterization and a round table on the challenges of R&D in sustainable exploration of oil and gas in Portugal.
Environment and Climate.
Invited speaker Jacques VEDRINE (Université P. & M. Curie-Paris VI ).The workshop session will focus on the environment and climate. There will be also a topic on the monitoring and control of the desertification and drought phenomena with a presentation of the product
Desertification Services, developed by CERENA, integrated in an international partnership under the European project “Mellodies”.
The new challenges of mining industry.
Invited speaker Jöerg Bendorff (Freiberg U.). This workshop will present the new trends that will lead the medium-term paths in mining industry: Real Time Mining, Mining Automation, Exploration of Marine Resources and Exploration of Ultra Deep Resources. This session includes the presentation of results of a European project (Real Time Mining) where CERENA is a key partner.
