A group of six student from the Master and PhD Programs in Petroleum Engineering from IST and CERENA was selected as one of the ten teams to participate in SEG’s EVOLVE project in a worldwide competition.
Contributing with 1.25 million USD, Halliburton joined SEG to create EVOLVE, an early-career learning initiative for oil and gas professionals. EVOLVE aims at offering students direct experience in conducting multi-discipline subsurface integration projects using actual seismic, micro-seismicity, wireline, core, production and other types of data. Students will have the opportunity to work with Halliburton’s DecisionSpace® Enterprise platform in a fully tutored and mentored learning experience from expert professionals in the oil and gas industry.
The team includes Petroleum Engineering PhD and Master Students – André Pinto, Catarina Marques, Eduardo Barrela, Francesco Turco, Inês Calçoa e João Narciso – who, for the next 8 months, will study and analyse real case-studies together with their faculty advisor, Professor Leonardo Azevedo. Throughout the project, they will receive tutoring and guidance from worldwide industry renowned mentors, such as Dr. John Castagna, Dr. Mike Forrest, Dr. Allen Bertagne.
